Biden lashes out at Second Amendment supporters: 'You need F-15s' to take on the federal government
Biden has previously said that those who fear the federal government will need fighter jets and nuclear weapons
President Biden said Monday that those who say they need assault weapons to fight the government need a much larger arsenal to stand a chance.
Speaking at the annual Martin Luther King Jr. breakfast. The National Action Network in Washington appeared to mock Biden's conservative colleagues.
"I love my friends on the right who talk about the tree of liberty being the water of the blood of patriots," he said. "If you need to work to take over the federal government, you need some F-15s. You don't need AR-15s."
The quote Biden refers to comes from Thomas Jefferson, who wrote in a letter, "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." Jefferson was the main author of the Declaration of Independence and the third US president.
